What is ASP?

ASP abbreviation stands for “Active Server Pages”. ASP is a technology for server side programming developed my Microsoft. ASP gives you the ability to build up interactive web application. In ASP, you can write HTML, scripts and components to develop web pages.

ASP is a server side scripting which means it will be executed at the server side and the pages have extension “.asp”.

Vb-script is the default scripting language used for ASP, to run ASP page you must deploy it on a web application server. This web server should support ASP, when ASP page is requested all the ASP scripts within the page is executed and send back the generated HTML page to the web browser, no ASP code will be sent to the web browser.
