The domain name is your address on the internet like Codemiles.com. First step in starting a website is to choose and a good domain name. The process of taking ownership of a domain name is called Domain name registration. The domain name is truly unique for you or for your company .To own a domain name you need to register it on the internet. This service is offered by many companies (domain name registrar) like (Godaddy.com).The domain must be not taken up by anyone yet.

A domain name registrar is a company approved by the (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) -ICANN- or by a national ccTLD authority to register Internet domain names . The ICANN have authority over the gTLD (generic top-level domains ) like .com ,.net ,org .mobi . The domain name cost about 8$ per year .Some hosting providers offer it for 2$ others for free but you have to buy their products .You can buy owned domain name (which is in offer for sell).
