ATU-R (ADSL Terminal Unit Remote)
It is one of the main parts of the ADSL modems .ATU-R responsible to connect your machine from the NIC card (network interface card) to the Ethernet. To avoid interference as much as you can you have to use splitter .Splitter divide your wire into two .One go for your telephone (telephone channel) and one go for ADSL modem. The signal low frequencies go for voice and signal high frequencies for data. The frequencies of the router range between 25 kHz and 1 MHz. Voice service ranges between 0 and 4 KHz

You can configure your router using you browser (ex: Mozilla FireFox, internet explore). You will need to know the administrator username and password .At your first time to do that, there will be a default username and password, depends on your router Vendor.

ADSL speed:

The speed of your connection is based on how much you pay and what you purchased from your ISP (Internet service provider). The speeds vary from hundreds of kilobits per second to megabits per second. Depends on your country .in Japan I heard it is now 1G/sec using Fiber optics wires.
